Why I started my company
When it first opened its doors in 1960, Laurentian offered a total of 16 programs; today, the university offers 175+ programs of which 33 are at the master’s and doctoral levels. With two outstanding campuses – in Sudbury and Barrie.
Laurentian has been delivering programs in Barrie since 2001 and has a proven track record of being a vital part of the socioeconomic and creative life of the communities in which its stakeholders live, learn, and work. It currently serves 1,000 students in Commerce, English, History, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology and has over 2,000 alumni in Simcoe County. Laurentian currently has close to seventy full and part time faculty and staff in Barrie, a local student government, engaged local members serving on Senate and the Board of Governors. Its plans are to grow the enrolment to 3,000 students, through an expansion of existing programs and the introduction of new cutting-edge programs in disciplines with high post-
My current role is focused on championing high quality services and supports for students, faculty and staff at Laurentian University in Barrie. I am responsible for the administrative infrastructure in Barrie, for supporting and developing student recruitment and marketing strategies, and also have responsibility for community engagement, government relations, alumni relations and development.
Why we like the Creative Space
To me the best thing about the TCS are the people I share it with. I am pretty much the lone Senior Administrator for Laurentian in Barrie so TCS and Coworking provides me with the feeling like I/Laurentian belong to something bigger than myself/University. It also is great venue for hosting innovative and engaging events, like Ignite Barrie, book launches and speaker series.
