Shelby Taylor – Earth to Kids
My name is Shelby Taylor, and I’m the founder of Earth to Kids. I’m so excited to share our first product line: Chickapea!
I love pasta. Who doesn’t? Babies, kids, adults… we all love pasta! It’s delicious, comforting, versatile and fun! It’s also super fast and easy to cook. But let’s be honest, it’s not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of healthy foods. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Historically, the only way to get real nutrients into pasta is in the sauce, but that’s all about to change!
When I was pregnant with my son, I found myself more passionate about nutrition than ever. I bought a small health food shop so I could bring the healthiest and tastiest products to my town, and also get a better idea of what people were looking for – what was missing from their diets. It didn’t take long to realize that parents are struggling to feed their children healthy meals that they will actually eat – and ones that don’t require hours spent in the kitchen after a long day at work. I spent a lot of time talking to these parents; learning what was important to them, and all about their children’s habits and preferences. These conversations are why I created Chickapea.
Now that my son is eating solids and developing his own food preferences, I can fully relate to the issues other parents are experiencing. I feel like I have to make a choice between nutrition and convenience, and I don’t think that’s right. As much as I love cooking, I’d much rather spend the few hours I have with my son each day, playing, laughing and learning; not working away in the kitchen.
My mission is to bridge the gap between healthy and convenient – starting with Chickapea.
