Most people have 9 months to get ready to give birth and once it happens they never say to their spouse, “Well, I didn’t see that coming!”
Well, it kind of felt like that this week. I turned to my wife and said, “It looks like we just helped birth 2 new communities!”
After meeting with Sondra Van Dolder a few weeks ago, we started down the road to the idea of a space in Hunstville. At the same time, through a connection with my Collingwood cyber buddy, Wayne Ferris, and then through a connection with Gillan Fairly from Collingwood Economic Development, Manager South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre, we went to Collingwood last Thursday nite for an info session.
After sharing the vision with the 22 plus entrepreneurs in the room, they asked, “So, when can we start?”
Within minutes a group had committed to meet, a local animation company agreed to open their space up for coworking while they grow and look for a home and a facebook page launched!
When I met Sondra in Huntsville at the Accelerate Muskoka conference the next day, she said, “We’ve started!” A few ents coworking weekly from her house.
They are still forming and figuring things out, but both are doing it right. Starting with a few committed coworkers and growing from there.
Collingwood is launching as CoWork in Collingwood. And since it’s co-located in IllustrateIT’s animation studio, ya knew some videos would not take long to follow. Check out their first here
Huntsville will join us under the newly formed Creative Space Collective. TCS has always been a support to other spaces and so we look forward to serving both communies and learning from each other!
